Message Text: Vivastar is adding to its DVD technology range: from now on, the Swiss company will also be supplying its own recording software for DVD blanks. This means that Vivastar is providing a complete DVD package from one source – from the RS-111 DVD Recorder through DVD-R and DVD-RAM media to the burner software. Vivastar will be presenting its first live demonstration of the Vivastar Recording Software 1.0 and the Vivastar Edition of Power Director 2.0 Pro at CeBIT 2002 in Hanover.

In contrast with comparable programs that are merely based on expanded CD-R burner software, Vivastar Recording Software 1.0 has been specially developed for DVD recorders and the associated media. The software can be used to copy data quickly from one DVD-R to another or to save files as required from a hard disc onto DVD-R blanks. Menu operation is simple and clear so that even beginners can enter the world of DVD burning straight away. To make the best possible use of the storage capacity of the DVD-R media, the Vivastar Recording Software 1.0 allows multi-session writing to DVD-R media for the first time. If after burning only part of the memory is taken up, the user can add additional data in later sessions. The software comes in a package with the RS-111 DVD Recorder, but will also be available separately in the future.

The second software package that Vivastar is enclosing with the RS-111 is Cyberlink's Power Director 2.0 Pro. The program, which Vivastar is the first to launch, will be a particular treat for home cinema and movie fans: it provides a complete range of tools for production, including editing and titling videos and DVD authoring. This means that DVD menus can be produced and saved in a format that can be read by DVD-video players.

The Power Director 2.0 Pro helps users to produce and edit their own film creations. Once the best scenes have been compiled, they can easily be burned onto a DVD-R. The special features of this software include an expanded technology for tracing film sequences so that it is possible, for example, to remove advertising blocks or other "unwanted" passages. In addition, it is also possible with Power Director 2.0 Pro to create slide shows from individual shots, which can then be played on a DVD-video player. At an point in the program, the user can check the corrections that have been made and effects added in real time.

In addition to the two burner programs, Vivastar also provides special drivers and tools for writing to DVD-RAM media, containing functions such as write protection, read tests, formatting tools and dust checks.

"The new burner software is a magnificent achievement on the part of our research department", says Atanas Zafirov, CEO of Vivastar AG. "The Vivastar Recording 1.0 program reflects the latest developments in DVD technology and guarantees our customers superb recording quality and completely new features."
