Message Text: Pioneer Electronics (USA) announced the shipping of the DRM-UF701, the industry's first modular disc flip unit for DVD-based data storage libraries. The modular design of the DRM-UF701 allows it to be easily added to both new and existing models of Pioneer's 720-disc DVD libraries. The DRM-UF701 is an automated expansion module that turns over two-sided DVD media stored within Pioneer's 700-disc libraries, doubling the storage capacity from 3.38TB to 6.3TB.

"The new flip unit allows users to take full advantage of DVD-R's two-sided capability," said Andy Parsons, senior vice president of industrial video/mass storage sales and marketing, Pioneer Electronics (USA), Inc., Business Solutions Division. "This provides a cost effective way for users to double the capacity of their new or existing library system while maximizing the use of limited physical space."

The DRM-UF701 has a disc flip time of 0.5 seconds and a Means Swap Between Failure (MSBF) disc flip of one million times. The unit is available at an MSRP of $4,995 through Pioneer authorized distributors. For more information, visit the business products section of the Pioneer Website at www.pioneerelectronics.com.

Pioneer's Mass Storage Group is a leading supplier of DVD-Recordable drives, as well as automated DVD library systems and M-O and WORM multifunctional optical drives and media. The Business Solutions Division provides professional business-to-business products across a wide range of markets including cable television, professional video/audio, educational, medical, legal and banking.
