Sony Japan announced today a new CD-RW drive with the codename "CRX185A1". It supports 32x writing, 10x re-writing, 40x reading, "PowerBurn" anti-buffer underrun technology and CD-Text. The official CloneCD website lists a model with the codename CRX185A3 as capable of backup SD2 v2.51 protected CDs but are not sure if the announced model is the same as the one mentioned at CloneCD's homepage :-(.

- Re-writing: 4x, 8x and 10x (CLV)
- Reading: 40x (CAV)
- Buffer: 2MB
