Message Text: Mitsubishi Chemicals announced today the shippement of DVD+R media. The new DVD+R media supports 4.7GB of data (actual capacity 4.38GB) and recording speeds up to 2.4X (X=1385Kb/s). The DVD+R format supports Loss-Less linking which avoids any possible buffer underruns during writing.

The DVD+R Mitsubishi Chemical media is based upon Azo type organic pigment ("Super Azo") giving guaranteed recording stability. The new media is expected to ship from middle of March in Japan at uknown price for now. The companies that backup DVD+R/+RW format claims that the DVD+R would have higher compatibility even than DVD-R proposed than DVD forum. We would have to see if such claims will come true or not...
