TEAC announces 40x/12/40x recorder!

TEAC will announce soon a new recorder with the codename "CD-W540E". The drive supports 40x writing, 12x re-writing and 40x reading. Its buffer is up to 8MB and supports "Mt. Rainier" format. The drive reaches 40x writing speed with the use of Zone-CLV recording technology.
The drive starts writing at 20x at the inner of the disc and with the shift zones of 20x-24x-32x-40x reaches 40x recording speed. The drive automatically recognizes media quality and adjusts recording speed accordinaly. Other features (ROPC and 2mm thick metal case) as found in the CD-W524E series are also present.
The drive is expected to ship middle of March.
