Message Text: The Court of Appeal in the Hague, the Netherlands, in the case of Postech Corporation / Princo Corporation versus Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V., has confirmed that the unlicensed CD-R discs of Postech and Princo infringe upon Philips' patent rights and that therefore the seizures are justified.

The court further ruled that any consequent imports of unlicensed CD-R discs by Princo Corporation and/or Postech Corporation shall incur a penalty of NLG 1,000 for each CD-R disc imported. In the interest of the protection of its faithfull licensees and for the sake of protecting its intellectual property rights in general, Philips is determined to continue enforcing its patent rights through border seizures of infringing products and through actions against companies dealing in those products.
