Message Text: Rimage Corporation announced it is now shipping a completely re-energized Desktop Publisher line. Among the significant changes is the inclusion of the new Rimage QuickDisc software; a switch from SCSI to the faster FireWire (officially known as IEEE1394) interface; an upgrade to 24X CD-R recorders; and the option of DVD-R general use drives.

With the new Desktop Publishers, all units are network capable, allowing them to attach to your network and be accessed by an unlimited number of clients just like a standard office laser printer. ``The goal in re-energizing the Desktop line was not merely to place the equipment at a competitive level,'' says Jim Lewis, Vice President of Business Development, ``but rather to set a new industry standard. To that end, we more than accomplished our goal by effectively bringing to market the first 24X CD-R system, with optional DVD-R capabilities, utilizing a new FireWire(TM) Interface, and the extremely simple QuickDisc software program -- all one complete solution straight out of the box!'' Pricing on the Desktop line begins at $3,995.00, making it an attractive offer for any environment.

Rimage's new QuickDisc software is the new look of Rimage, and will be the featured user interface on all Desktop Publishers. This program is by far the easiest application for creating CDs and DVDs. Users are given the option to create a data, audio or mixed mode (audio/data) disc. Using a convenient drag-and-drop format, users select the files to record and drag them into the appropriate sections (one labeled for data, one labeled for audio). The last step is dragging in a label file, and clicking the record button. It's done. It's that simple.

Available with one, two or four drives, the Desktop Publishers are designed to create multiple unique discs or hundreds of the same. Versatility being an all-important feature of the Desktop Publishers, the units are a classic fit in a variety of settings from the office to the independent music studio. The availability of DVD-R general use drives is ideal for situations that require the extra storage space provided with a DVD (4.7 Gig compared to 650 MB for a CD-R). Each unit includes a 1200 dpi inkjet label printer, providing high-quality, full coverage, color labeling to CDs and DVDs. Desktop Publishers are also capable of recording and printing to Business Card CD-R.
