Sanyo Electric Co. has finally developed the world first Shock Proof technology "Shock-BP" which resists impacts in recording. The sound skip guard function on the playback is inevitable feature for portable CD players and portable MD players. This "Shock-BP" was born by blending the sound skip guard system with the BURN-Proof recording technology, and it stops the recording immediately when the drive detects the impact on recording , and it enables drives to restart recording at the interrupt position after the servo becomes stable.
The Shock-BP detects the vibration element per the impact which easily occurs at the general use by using the exclusive detection filter which is different from the commonplace filter at servo system. However, the disorder of disc servo is occurred by not only a vibration and a shock. but also the slight scratch of the disc and passing through the local meandering of track . The Shock-BP equally detects the error when the drive passes through the slight scratch of the disc and the local meandering of track.
It is very difficult to distinguish the signal disorder by the scratch and meandering on a discs from the signal disorder by the impact. We shall prepare the special application software which controls the Shock-BP function. The most suitable operation in accordance with the used conditions will be available by using this application because users can adjust the detection level of Shock-BP.
