Roxio announced today that it will begin offering its best-selling CD burning software, Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum for Windows, in a "10-Pack" format. The Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum 10-Pack is now available in the United States only and it will be priced at $879.50, a significant discount relative to the cost of purchasing 10 copies of the software individually at the suggested retail price.
The decision to offer a multi-user purchasing option for Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum, the full-featured retail version of Roxio's award-winning software, comes in response to increasingly heavy demand for CD recording technology on the part of corporations, educational institutions, multimedia design firms, value-added resellers, system integrators and other organizations, who use CD recording technology for a variety of purposes.
According to International Data Corporation (IDC), the primary activity users engage in when using CD recording technology is writing and recording data onto CDs (42% of users), followed by music (32%), photos (18%) and video and other content (8%). Industry analysts project that by the end of this year, 5 billion blank CDs will be shipped in support of an estimated installed base of 100 million CD recorders, a large percentage of which will be used in institutional settings. The installed base for CD/DVD recorders is projected to grow to 400 million by year 2004. |
