"...Memtek Products, Inc., the U.S. distributor of the well-known Memorex branded media products announced today that it is expanding its offerings in the 185MB/21min "Pocket" CD-R/CD-RW category later this month. The leader in retail digital media, Memorex has enjoyed tremendous response from the initial release of Pocket CD-R in their 5-packs of discs in jewel cases. The 185MB/21 minute audio, 16X write speed discs will now be available in 10- and 50-pack configurations. Memorex will also offer a 10-Pack of Pocket CD-RW. Each package of the new 10-Pack Pocket CD-RW will include FileCD 2.0 by NTI. The FileCD 2.0 program developed by NTI (NewTech InfoSystems) will allow the user to format a CD-RW in about 8 minutes at 4x speed. The new Pocket CD-RW will now be as easy as a floppy and as powerful as a CD. The user can now use the CD-RW to perform drag and drop functions just like a floppy disk.
The 10-disc Pocket CD-R version will be offered in a blister/spindle package and carry a suggested retail price of $14.99. The blister/spindle package has been designed to allow retailers to display the product standing up on shelves or on pegboard displays. The new 10 Pack CD-RW will be offered in the same blister/spindle package and carry a suggested retail price of $19.99. The 50-disc Pocket CD-R version will be available in a spindle package configuration and have a suggested retail price of $39.99..."
