 CATC developer tool for serial-ATA makes its debut

Message Text: "...CATC (Computer Access Technology Corporation) today announced its entry into the Serial ATA market. Early adopters of the new Serial ATA standard were privy to an advance demonstration of the new protocol analysis products at a Working Group event last week in Longmont, CO. Demonstration CDs are now available containing advance versions of the analyzer viewing software and development information about the Serial ATA protocol and specification.

Serial ATA is a 1.5Gbps evolutionary replacement for the Parallel ATA physical storage interface used to connect storage devices, such as hard disks, DVDs and CD-R/Ws to the PC motherboard. Serial ATA is scalable, enables design of smaller PCs, and will allow future enhancements to the computing platform. CATC plans to make the Serial ATA product line available during summer 2001, starting with a protocol analyzer..."
