Message Text: "...Macrovision announced today that Palm Pictures, Chris Blackwell's multi-faceted international entertainment company with its Manga Entertainment animation division, have signed a five-year extension to copy protect 100 percent of its worldwide DVDs (digital video discs) and VHS library.

Macrovision's copy protection is designed to prevent unauthorized copying of DVD, VHS and PPV programming to VCRs without impacting the original picture. Macrovision introduced its DVD copy protection in 1997 and it is now utilized on over 70 percent of all video DVDs distributed by most Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) studios, as well as corporate, educational, and special interest rights owners. Over 500 million DVDs, 3 billion videocassettes, and 60 million digital set-top boxes have utilized Macrovision's video copy protection technologies..."
