Message Text: "...Market leader in CD-R and CD-RW storage media has chosen CeBIT to debut the launch of its CD-RW1610 internal 16x CD-RW drive. The unit boasts a 16x write speed - making it the fastest CD-RW drive on the market - a 10x rewrite speed and a maximum read speed of 40x. Verbatim's decision to launch the high-speed drive, was prompted by consumer demand for faster write times; with appropriate Verbatim high-speed recording media, users will be able to write a 700MB
CD-R in around five minutes.

Consumers also wanted fewer write failures and the CD-RW1610 features WriteProof technology which eliminates the main cause of CD writing failures, buffer under-runs, and is equipped with a 2MB buffer for improved writing efficiency. This industry-standard ATAPI/IDE drive supports a wide range of CD formats, as well as 12cm and 8cm disks, and comes complete with Verbatim 16x 700MB CD-R and high-speed CD-RW disks. The CD authoring software package bundled with the drive is the powerful and reliable, Nero, which comprises Nero Burning ROM, Nero InCD and Nero MediaPlayer. The CD-RW1610 is compatible with Windows 95/98/2000 and will be available in April..."
