"...Pioneer Europe announced today the availability of the DVR-A03 DVD-R/RW writer. The new DVR-A03 will be available in late spring and, retailing at less than €1000, breaks a significant price barrier. DVD-R and RW discs written on the DVR-A03 are DVD-ROM and DVD-Video compatible allowing easy playback on computers with Mpeg2 decoders and home DVD video units. Using phase-change technology, RW discs can be re-recorded more than 1,000 times, alongside this the versatile DVR-A03 writes to DVD-R, CD-R, and CD-RW media.
Product Manager (Optical systems) for Pioneer Europe's Multimedia Division, Chris Tampsett commented: "The DVR-A03 introduces the capacity, flexibility and quality of DVD storage and playback to a far wider range of applications. It marks a turning point for this technology, as we will now see DVDs acceptance in corporate, technical and home use on a large scale. The market for CD-R grew exponentially and we will now see DVD-R/RW become the defacto standard."..."
