I-O Data today announced their latest 16x recorders. They are based upon Sanyo CRD-BP1400P ,which already have tested, and they will start selling from February ,in Japan, for 39,800Yen ($335) CDRW-AB1610B (ATAPI model) and 42,000Yen ($354) CDRW-i1610B/USB model (FireWire). With the external model you would only write up to 8x (if you USB). I-O Data is preparing a FireWire/USB2 cable converter solution which called "I & Connect". USB2 seems the future for portable recording since it has up to 480 Mbps (=60Mb/s) transfers rates.
Both drives support:
16x writing, 10x re-writing, 40x reading
2MB of Buffer
BURN-Proof Anticoaster Technology
B'S Recorder/Clip Gold for Windows
