Message Text: "...LaCie is demonstrating its family of FireWire and SCSI 4.7GB DVD-RAM drives for PC and Mac desktop video production this week at the COMDEX DVD-RAM Pavilion, Booth L6459. With LaCie's FireWire DVD-RAM drive, users now have the convenience of being able to add, remove or swap the drive without having to restart the computer.

No other storage solution provides the media interchangeability that DVD-RAM offers. The LaCie DVD-RAM drive reads from discs currently accepted by CD-ROM, CD Audio, CD-R, CD-RW and video CD drives, as well as DVD-R, DVD-ROM and DVD video drives. With this broad media interchangeability, plus data transfer rates of up to 22.16Mbps, and a 95ms average seek time, users have a single, low-cost storage solution for digital content creation, reading CDs, performing system backups, and downloading large files to removable media.

Starting at $749 the external drives ship complete with cables, the LaCie DVD-RAM software drivers for Macintosh operating systems, and one 4.7GB DVD-RAM disc. LaCie also offers DVD-RAM media at $39 for the single-sided 4.7GB disc, and $59 for the double-sided 9.4GB disc.."
