Microsoft is changing the Skype app and it may end up making some Android and Windows Phone users frustrated.
The company announced it would continue to support Skype across Windows 7, 8, XP and Vista, Yosemite on Mac, iOS 8 and Android 4.03 operating systems and Windows 10 Mobile, but is ceasing support for those using Windows Phone 8 or older versions of Android.
Microsoft encourages everyone impacted to upgrade to continue using Skype.
Over the last decade, Skype has become an essential tool for people around the world. Recently, Microsoft's tean has been focused on transitioning Skype from peer-to-peer to a modern, mobile friendly cloud architecture. By moving to the cloud, Microsoft was able to improve existing features like file sharing and video messaging, and launch new features like mobile group video calling, Skype Translator and Skype Bots to name just a few. |
