Message Text: Many of you might think that the CD-R technology will soon get over by DVD re-writetable solutions since they offer increased storage capacity.

Sony and Philips does not have the same opinion. Both companies plan soon to present their new "Double-density CD-R" technology that will offer increased storage capacity up to 1.3GB! ;)

Not much information is out yet, but as we heard it might be possible to see CDR-W drives that support the new "Double-density CD-R" technology out near October/November this year. The new drives will be backward compatible to classic CD-R media, but their exact specifications remain unknown yet.
