Message Text: "..Today Kenwood announces the Kenwood 72X TrueX CD-ROM drive, their third high performance drive based on Zen Research's TrueX technology. The Kenwood 72X TrueX CD-ROM drive delivers an unparalleled sustained transfer rate ranging from 6.75MB/sec. to 10.8MB/sec. across the entire disc. Like all TrueX CD-ROM drives, the 72X TrueX reads 7 tracks of data in parallel. It employs Partial Constant Angular Velocity (PCAV) for optimum performance. Unlike a 56X "Max" drive that rotates at over 11,000 RPMs with excessive noise and vibration, the 72X TrueX drive's revolutionary design virtually eliminates vibration and noise while rotating at only 5,100 to 2,700 RPMs.
The Kenwood 72X TrueX CD-ROM drive uses Zens TrueX technology to read seven tracks in parallel, yielding superior read performance compared to conventional single-beam min/max drives. The Kenwood 72X TrueX CD-ROM is made with Zens TrueX technology and Kenwoods patented 7-Beam pickup, which illuminate multiple tracks simultaneously, read them in parallel, and process the data through a custom ASIC.
By reading multiple tracks at once, the 72X TrueX CD-ROM drive actually spins the disc slower than conventional single-beam drives, resulting in extremely precise readability and very quiet operation. The Kenwood 72X TrueX CD-ROM drive is faster, quieter, and more reliable than the average 50X Max drive. Retail price starts at $129.99.."

KenWood 72x CD Rom looks fine into specs but wait till final product tested..As I remember KenWood 52x CD Rom didn't had not good DAE speeds, suffered from noise and wasn't so reliable!..Maybe this new TrueX model solves them..(?)
