Message Text: "..Overall the Sony did come out on top and had the lowest access time. The Toshiba drive however did fairly well with inside and outside transfer rates. Comparing both 40x's to the DVD drive and 50x drive, it seems like 40x CD-ROM is just about all you will need for multimedia use. Although the Sony drive performed almost flawlessly, it did have a slight defect. It seems whenever the lens travels back and forth from the inside to out it makes a small squeaky noise (sort of like a small pig screaming). In any case with more testing, the problem only seems to occur when I used CD Winbench and not with any other CD's I had at the time when testing.."
