Fujitsu Microelectronics America Inc. will demonstrate its innovative single-chip 10Gbps Ethernet switch at booth 624 during the annual Network Processors West Conference at Parkside Hall in San Jose October 21-23.

The switch chip, developed for applications such as cluster computing and storage networking, is a 10Gbps layer-2 Ethernet switch using shared memory, with wire-speed switching capability at all 12 ports. The device provides 240 Gbps aggregate bandwidth, through an integrated XAUI SERDES interface, an 802.3e-compliant Ethernet Media Access Controller and Fujitsu’s proprietary credit-based buffer management unit.

FMA also has introduced the industry’s first 10Gbps serial transceiver macro, the HS9GX, for ASIC-based networking and communications applications. The macro, which interfaces to the industry-standard XFI optical module interface, provides very high-performance serialization and de-serialization, with a low power dissipation of only 311mW per channel. It enables network and communication systems designers to interface OC-192 framer functions through the XFI interface to the industry-standard XFP modules. An HS9GX fact sheet is now available from Fujitsu Microelectronics.
