Message Text: Broadcom today introduced a turnkey reference platform designed to help the development of affordable 4G LTE mobile devices.

Targeted at the growing sub $300 LTE smartphone market, Broadcom's fifth generation turnkey platform supports Android KitKat and utilizes the company's pin-to-pin compatible dual-core M320 or upcoming quad-core M340 LTE SoC, connectivity and location technology. The platfom allows for complete design reuse between dual-core and quad-core basebands, has been certified by carriers worldwide and deliver Category 4 (Cat 4) speeds (up to 150Mbps) in FDD-LTE and TD-LTE modes.

The turnkey LTE design also packs 802.11ac silicon (5G Wi-Fi, 1.3Gbps), Bluetooth, location and near field communication (NFC) technologies.

The Broadcom's M320 LTE SoC is in production now.

With the newplatform, Broadcom has started moving in on Qualcomm's lucrative territory, following Intel and Mediatek.
