 Toshiba Expands Enterprise Solid State Drive Family with The PX02SS Model

Message Text: Toshiba has added the PX02SS model to its family of enterprise solid state drives (eSSD).

Available in capacities of up to 800GB, the new 2.5-inch form factor SAS interface eSSD is designed for various write-intensive enterprise applications and is suited for large workloads, such as data processing and online transactions.

Using the 24nm eMLC (enterprise multi-level cell) NAND technology, the new PX02SSx series is available with capacities of 100GB, (PX02SSF010), 200GB (PX02SSF020), 400GB (PX02SSF040), 800GB (PX02SSB080).

The PX02SS features a 12 Gb/second SAS interface, and select models offer industry standard self-encrypting technology. The newest eSSD achieves random write speeds up to 42KIOPS, random read speeds of up to 130KIOPS and supports up to 30 full drive writes per day for all available capacity points. The drives also incorporate Toshiba's proprietary Quadruple Swing-By Code (QSBC) for improved error correction and reliability. Cryptographic erase versions of the eSSDs are also available.

The PX02SS high endurance eSSDs are available now.

Toshiba has also started providing samples of a new line of 7mm thick, 2.5-inch hard drives to computer and tablet manufacturers. The new ultra slim line will be available in 750GB and 1TB sizes, with retail availability some time in 2014.

The MQ02ABF series is SATA-3 provisioned, and are two-platter drives. The 5,400RPM drives have a 12ms seek time.
