Message Text: Samsung is reportedly eyeing Amazon, Sony and NVIDIA as chip customers in order to offset the lost volume caused by the Apple's decision to reduce its purchases from the South Korean giant.

According to a Korea Times report, Samsung is already in talks with Sony and NVIDIA, but talks with Amazon.com are still in early stages.

Amazon is developing its own application processors for its Kindle tablets. Previously, the company used OMAP-branded processors manufactured by Texas Instruments.

Sony is using ARM-based processors for its portable PS gaming consoles.

Apple is expected to continue getting logic chips for its upcoming iPhone 5S and iPad devices from Samsung, at least until the first half of next year, when its agreement with Samsung expires.

Going into 2014, Apple is expectd to start to use Taiwan's TSMC so Samsung needs to find alternative customers for their own processor chips.
