 Yahoo Buys Email Management app Xobni

Message Text: Yahoo's latest startup acquisition is email and address book management app Xobni, which is expected to help the company revamp its online products.

Yahoo did not disclose financial terms of the deal. The company plans to integrate Xobni's technology into its communications products, including the mobile and PC versions of its email and instant messaging services.

Xobni's team will be transfered to Yahoo HQ at Sunnyvale.

Existing users will be able to keep using Xobni products, at least until July 2nd, 2014. However, is no longer accepting new purchases of premium products. This includes Xobni Pro, Xobni Enterprise, Xobni for Teams, the Xobni Salesforce Gadget, and the Xobni JIRA Gadget. You may find related information in a FAQ section on the Xobni web site.

The deal is the latest in a series of acquisitions by Yahoo since Marissa Mayer became chief executive a year ago. On Tuesday Yahoo acquired Qwiki, a mobile app that creates mini-movies using a consumer's collection of photos and videos. And on Monday, Yahoo acquired Bignoggins Productions, a mobile app to help players of fantasy sports teams. Yahoo has also acquired blogging service Tumblr.
