Message Text: Japanese makers are trying to remain competitive with Korean Samsung and LG in the firld of next-generation display technlogy. Both Toshiba and Panasonic showcased flexible OLED displays propotypes at this year's SID 2013.

Panasonic has developed a 4-inch full-color flexible OLED display. The top-emission display is driven by amorphous IGZO (a-IGZO) TFTs and has a pixel count of 224 x 224 x RGB (red/green/blue) and a resolution of 80ppi.

Based on polyethylene naphthalate (PEN), the display can be bent up to a curvature radius of 10mm.

Toshiba had on display a 10.2-inch full-HD (1,920 x 1,200 x RGBW) flexible OLED display on a transparent polyimide substrate. Its resolution is 223ppi.

The bottom-emission OLED so thin that it was trembled when wind was generated by a human movement.
