Message Text: LG has completed the development of its own application processor and ported its mass production design asset (IP) to 28 nano High-K Metal Gate (HKMG) process of Taiwanese foundry, TSMC.

According to etnews.com, LG will test the processor on its smartphones and decide whether it will be adopted for commercial launch when it comes out of the production line this month.

LG'a quad-core AP features four ARM Cortex A15 processors and not the Big-Little architecture adopted for Samsung's the octa-core AP, since the latter consumes more power.

LG's development team was leaded by Sangwon Song, the senior VP LG scouted from Texas Instrument (TI) last month.

LG hopes that bringing its own processors in its phones will have an impact to the future smartphone market.
