AMD introduced a pair of new AMD Catalyst drivers that improve performance and stability for AMD Radeon graphics products. These drivers are the
AMD Catalyst 13.4 WHQL
and the
AMD Catalyst 13.5 Beta
.
This driver is intended to replace the AMD Catalyst 13.3 Beta driver AMD released in late March. It contains the very latest performance optimizations. Compared with the 13.3 Beta driver it replaces, the 13.5 Beta driver offers several improvements:
- Recommended for the AMD Radeon HD 7990 graphics processor
- Extensive optimizations for Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon
- Up to 6% improved performance in Tomb Raider
- Up to 6% improved performance in BioShock Infinite
- Up to 5% improved performance in Sid Meier?s Civilization V
- Up to 4% improved performance in Far Cry 3
- Up to 18% improved performance in Borderlands 2 with FXAA
- Resolves TressFX Hair corruption seen in Tomb Raider on the AMD Radeon HD 7790 GPU
Certified by Microsoft via the Windows Hardware Certification program, the 13.4 WHQL driver is an upgrade to AMD Catalyst 13.1 WHQL driver released in January. As a WHQL driver release, this should be the driver of choice for users that depend upon the most rigorous levels of stability certification.
The 13.1 WHQL driver release is featuring the following improvements:
- Full stack of performance optimizations for Crysis 3, bringing the many enhancements AMD developed for the beta drivers into the certified driver tree.
- Full stack of performance optimizations for BioShock Infinite.
- Full stack of performance optimizations for Tomb Raider. - Windows Hardware Certification for AMD Radeon HD 7990 and HD 7790 GPUs
- Up to 5% improved performance in Batman: Arkham City
- Up to 10% improved performance in Borderlands 2
- Up to 14% improved performance in Enemy Territory: Quake Wars with MSAA
- Up to 11% improved performance for Hitman Absolution
- Up to 11% improved performance in Return to Castle Wolfenstein MP
- Up to 5% improved performance in Sid Meier?s Civilization V
- Performance optimizations for the 2013 release of SimCity
- Resolves rare image corruption seen in Tomb Raider with TressFX Hair enabled
- Implements the frame latency fixes for Tomb Raider and Hitman Absolution that were tested in AMD's beta drivers
- Implements the DirectX 9.0c texture flickering fixes
- Adds support for the following OpenGL 4.3 extensions:
GL_ARB_compute_shader
GL_ARB_multi_draw_indirect
GL_ARB_shader_storage_buffer_object
GL_ARB_arrays_of_arrays
GL_ARB_clear_buffer_object
GL_ARB_ES3_compatibility
GL_ARB_explicit_uniform_location
GL_ARB_fragment_layer_viewport
GL_ARB_invalidate_subdata
GL_ARB_program_interface_query
GL_ARB_shader_image_size
GL_ARB_stencil_texturing
GL_ARB_texture_buffer_range
GL_ARB_texture_query_levels
GL_ARB_texture_storage_multisample
