Message Text: Nintendo returned to profit for the fiscal year ended March 31 as a lift from the weak yen offset sales struggles caused by software delays for its latest home console Wii U.

The maker of Super Mario and Pokemon games reported Wednesday an annual profit of 7.1 billion yen ($72 million). Last year the company had reported a 43 billion yen loss.

The company's annual sales dipped 1.9 percent to 635.4 billion yen ($6.4 billion).

Nintendo expects profit to reach the 55 billion yen ($555 million) this fiscal year.

During the last quarter, the Japanese company sold 3.45 million of Wii U consoles, but it expects to sell 9 million of its new Wii U game consoles in the year to next March 31.

The Japanese gaming company also forecasts sales of its handheld 3DS console to rise nearly 30 percent to 18 million.
