Hewlett-Packard (PHP) next week will unveil its first hyperscale servers as part of Project Moonshot, the company's attempt to build packed low-power servers.
The company on Tuesday sent out invitations for a
webcast event
on April 8 to unveil the Project Moonshot platform.
Project Moonshot was first unveiled in November 2011 with an ARM server design, and later expanded to include a dense server with Intel's low-power Atom processors. HP had made available prototype servers to specific customers for testing.
The new servers have been designed to offer power and space saving advantages over typical x86 servers and are expected to be implemented at large data centers that handle Internet traffic.
HP has yet to clarify how it would work with its clients that will choose ARM servers, as they will have to recompile their code that had been written fro x86 processors.
