Message Text: Google is showcasing new apps for its Google Glass technology including an app for Gmail, the New York Times, Evernote, Skitch, and Path, at South by Southwest Interactive.

With the new new Gmail app, as soon as an email arrives, users who wear the Google Glass can use voice command to prompt Google's e-mail service to deliver the sender's image and subject line to the glasses' screen. Wearers can also tell the app what to write back.

The NYT application will deliver an article in the form of an image, headline, byline, and the number of hours ago the article was posted. A tap on Google Glass is enough to prompt the Google Glass device read the article.

Google lass will also share images to Evernote and Skitch, and show you updates from your Path network, along with the ability to add emoticons to friends' posts and make comments.

Google Glass is expected to arrive on the market for the general public later this year.
