Message Text: Microsoft has reminded customers that it would stop supporting Windows 7's first edition (RTM - release to manufacturing) in early April, measning that they should upgrade to SP1 to continue to receive security support.

The retirement of Windows 7 RTM will take place April 9, meaning that the OS will not receive any updates from that date on.

Microsoft will keep supporting Windows 7 with non-security bug fixes and security patches until Jan. 13, 2015, and with patches only for another five years.
