 Toshiba To Keep Prices Of Its Large 4K TVs Low

Message Text: In an effort to enter the 4K UDTV market with better prerspectives, Toshiba in spring will release lower-cost 65-inch and 58-inch 4K TVs, the company said.

Toshiba showed reporters in Japan its new 4K TVs ahead of the International Consumer Electronics Show.

Sony, LG and Samsung have released large 4K TV models but they are all priced at more than 1 million yen ($11,400).



Toshiba's "big screen global strategy", is to curb the per-inch prices below 10,000 yen, although its largest model, at 84 inches, is still expected to cost more than 1 million yen.

Toshiba's line-up of 2013 HDTVs includes LED TVs featuring a new Cloud TV functionality. Cloud TV offers easier content discovery and acquisition, including news content; better mobile device interactivity; practical social interaction features, server-based upgradability and more. Some of the key initial services include Family Calendar, Messaging, News, MediaShare and MediaGuide, plus built-in wireless sharing with Intel Wireless Display (WiDi) and Miracast. All feature 1080p full HD resolution and include a suite of technologies that enhance picture quality.

The Advanced Cloud TV functionality will be included on the following LED TVs:

- L7350 Series 3D TVs will be available in 58- and 65-inch class screen sizes
- L7300 Series 2D TVs will be available in 50-, 58- and - 65-inch class screen sizes
- L4300 Series 2D TVs will be available in 32-, 39- and - 50-inch class screen sizes
- 4K UltraHD TV


The all-new Toshiba L9300 Series UltraHD LED TVs are Powered by Toshiba's CEVO 4K Quad+Dual Core Processor and enable UltraHD upscaling and 2D-to-3D conversion. The L9300 Series will be available in 58-, 65- and 84-inch class screen sizes.

Toshiba's 2013 line also includes several affordable LED TVs. The new L2300 Series ? available in 23-, 32-, 39- and 50-inch class screen sizes ? features a Gun Metallic Satin Deco and base. The new L1350 Series will be available in 23-, 29-, 32-, 39- and 50-inch screen sizes.

Toshiba's Ultra HD TVs and 2013 HDTVs are scheduled to begin shipping from March 2013 onward.

Toshiba plans to turn 90 percent of its large TVs into 4K products by fiscal 2015.
