LG Electronics received a favorable decision in a video compression patent infringement case tried in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California.
Alcatel-Lucent's Multimedia Patent Trust (MPT) filed suit against LG in December 2010, alleging infringement of U.S. Patent No. 5,136,377 and U.S. Patent No. 5,227,878 related to video compression technology. Following a 10 day trial, the jury determined that LG did not infringe these patents.
LG has maintained from the beginning that it does not violate any valid patent rights held by MPT, and LG said it is pleased with the jury's determination of no infringement.
MPT recently filed a second patent infringement case against LG and Apple, alleging infringement of the same two patents by LG products that LG successfully struck from this case.
LG says it is confident that it also will prevail in the second patent infringement case. |
