Storage software maker Sepaton has announced the availability of the S2100-ES3 series 2922 purpose-built appliance with version 6.3 software. The next-generation data protection platform features Hitachi Data Systems HUS 100 storage arrays for 25 percent more capacity.

The announcement was made Oct. 16 at Storage Networking World Fall 2012 in Santa Clara, Calif., which continues through Oct. 19.

Sepaton's S2100-ES3 platform is designed specifically for large backup and restore operations to reduce the cost and risk of data protection. Sepaton's DBeXstream technology is the first to cut capacity while speeding backup times for very large enterprise databases like Oracle, DB2 and SQL. Version 6.3 software also supports OST optimized duplication enabling faster and more efficient duplication by reducing the workload on the NetBackup media servers and on the network.
