Message Text: Google is bringing its Nexus 7 tablet in Japan aiming at Sony's competitive offerings, although they also run on Google's Android operating system.

The 16GB version of Nexus 7 is listed on the Google Play website with a starting price of 19,800 yen ($250). The device will be available in retail stores from October 2.

Nexus 7 features a 1280x800 HD display and it is powered by the Nvidia Tegra-3 chipset, with a quad-core CPU and 12-core GPU. It runs on Android 4.1(Jelly Bean) OS. The device weighs just 340 grams, lighter than most tablets out there. It also comes with a front-facing camera, Chrome browser and Gmail.

The tablet is already available in Australia, France, Germany, Spain, Canada, the UK and the U.S.

The tablet market is dominated by Apple and its iPad, which represented about 70 percent of global sales in the second-quarter, and includes Amazon.com's Kindle, Barnes & Noble's Nook and Samsung' s Galaxy Tab.
