Twitter users should be able to download their entire archive of tweets by year's end. In addition, Twitter as promised to unlock Twitter's full interactive potential.
During a Friday
keynote
at the Online News Association conference in San Francisco, Twitter CEO Dick Costolo explained Twitter's ideas for a broader platform with more value.
Costolo confirmed that Twitter will soon roll out a free tool for users to pick and publish selections of tweets. For example, journalists would be able to manually curate and display tweets to accompany their breaking news events.
He also promised to unlock Twitter's full interactive potential. For instance, Twitter one day will be woven into television viewing in real time, allowing for real-time exchanges or voting during shows or broadcast sporting events.
