 Google Acquires Instagram Competitor

Message Text: Google on Monday said it acquired Germa-based Nik Software, a company that has developed photo editing application Snapseed.

"We want to help our users create photos they absolutely love, and in our experience Nik does this better than anyone," said Vic Gundotra, senior vice president, engineering, on a Google+ post.

Nik Software is offering digital image editing tools. The companby's Snapseed photo app let's uses easily enhance their photos, add effects, and share them. The app is currently compatible with Apple's iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, Mac and Windows. An Android version is also coming soon.

"We've always aspired to share our passion for photography with everyone, and with Google's support we hope to be able to help many millions more people create awesome pictures," said the Nik Software Team.
