Message Text: Nokia said an officer will review why the company posted misleading marketing materials for its new smarthone products released last week.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Nokia spokeswoman Susan Sheehan said an ethics and compliance officer is working on an independent report "to understand what happened."

Nokia last week apologized for showing a marketing video and photos that promoted its new Lumia 920 smartphone, although both marketing materials were not shot with the camera of the new device. The new smartphone supports the optical image stabilization feature, which eliminates blurry images and improves pictures shot in low light conditions. The video used for the promotion of this feature was misleading, as it was not shot with the phone's camera. Instead, Nokia "produced a video that simulated what we will be able to deliver with OIS," without however posting a disclaimer stating this was a representation of OIS only.

Nokia is seeking to revive its business by challenging Apple's iPhone and handsets running on Google's Android software.
