Message Text: Samsung vice chairman Choi Gee-sung and Apple CEO Tim Cook will meet in a U.S. court on May 21 to seek a settlement of their legal battles.

The meeting comes after a Northern District Court of California ruling released last week ordering the CEOs of the two companies to attend a settlement conference along with their chief lawyers at its San Francisco Division on May 21-22.

The executives will start their discussions at the San Francisco courthouse on May 21 and meet again the following day. The two firms are expected to discuss a possible "cross license" agreement.

The two companies are engaged in a legal battle that includes many cases in different countries as they are fighting for the top spot in the smartphone and tablet markets.

Samsung claims Apple infringed on its 3G mobile communication patent, while Apple argues Samsung violated the design patent of the iPhone and iPad.
