Message Text: Samsung's flexible AMOLED displays dubbed "YOUM" are expected to apper next year, according to an application filed last month to the US Patent and Trademark Office.

Samsung Mobile Display's "Youm" flexible AMOLED displays are also available on the new Samsung Mobile Display site. YOUM promises to be thinner and lighter than traditional AMOLED and LCD-TFT screens, as well as being "unbreakable."

According to the pictures published online by Samsung, the only difference between the standard OLED and its flexible counterpart is the use of film instead of glass, which the company claims makes the display "thinner, lighter, and unbreakable."

Samsung's rival LG is also bringing flexible e-paper displays (not AMOLED) in Europe as soon as this month, as the company has already started their production. LG has also hinted plans to create flexible OLED displays in the near future.

Samsung has previously shown off foldable devices as well as various flexible prototypes, and has suggested that as well as gadgets which literally bend.
