Message Text: Apple today confirmed earlier reports it has acquired flash memory startup Anobit.

Anobit makes flash memory technology found in the iPhone, iPad, and MacBook Air.

Apple spokesman Steve Dowling confirmed the acquisition to Bloomberg but declined to discuss the purchase price or the company's plans for the startup.

Anobit's patented MSP (Memory Signal Processing) technology significantly improves the endurance and thus the cost structure of NAND-based products and systems. Anobit's products, ranging from flash controllers to enterprise-class solid state drives, are designed for NAND flash manufacturers, consumer electronics vendors and storage solution providers.

Last year, Intel capital had annoucned investments in Anobit.
