Message Text: Elan Microelectronics said Thursday it has reached a settlement with Apple over patent-infringement complaints launched against each other.

Elan said in a statement settlement was reached after the U.S. International Trade Commission in June 2011 ruled that Apple didn't violate one of two patents alleged in Elan's complaint. Apple counter alleged at the ITC that Elan violated two of its patents, the statement from the Taiwanese company said.

Apple will pay Elan US$5 million and both Apple and Elan have agreed to cross-license the patents at the center of the dispute, Elan said.
