Gmail users will be able to switch to a new look by clicking on Switch to the new look in the bottom-right of Gmail.
Google has completely redesigned the conversation view to help users read through their email threads and has also added profiles pictures for contacts. In addition, now the spacing between elements on the screen will automatically change based on the kind of display someone is using. For those who prefer a denser view all the time, they can change their density manually in the Settings menu.
Themes have been completely rebuilt with imagery provided by iStockphoto. Google has updated most of the old favorites as well and users' themes will be automatically carried over to the new look.
The navigation panel on the left keeps users' labels and chat contacts in view at all times. Users can also resize the labels and chat areas if they want to see more, or hide the chat area entirely via the chat icon in the lower left.
last but not least, an advanced search panel has been added to dropdown in the search box.
