 Intel Launches New CPUs, Lowers Prices Of Older Chips

Message Text: Intel on Sunday released new Sandy Bridge-based processors. The company also reduced the prices of some existing CPUs to better compete against AMD's APUs.

The new CPUs for desktop include the Core i5-2320 (6M cache, 4 Cores, 4 Threads, 3.00 GHz 32nm) - $177), the i3-2130 (3M cache, 2 Cores, 4 Threads, 3.40 GHz 32nm - $138), the i3-2125 (3M cache, 2 Cores, 4 Threads, 3.30 GHz 32nm - $134), the i3-2120T (3M cache, 2 Cores, 4 Threads, 2.60 GHz 32nm - $127), the Pentium G860 (3M cache, 2 Cores, 2 Threads, 3.00 GHz, 32nm - $86) and the G630 (3M cache, 2 Cores, 2 Threads, 2.70 GHz, 32nm - $75). The company also unveiled the new Celerons G540 (2M cache, 2 Cores, 2 Threads, 2.50 GHz, 32nm - $52), G530 (2M cache, 2 Cores, 2 Threads, 2.40 GHz, 32nm - $42) and the G440 (1M cache, 1 Cores, 1 Thread, 1.60 GHz, 32nm - $37).

The new low-power CPUs for mobile devices include the Core i7-2960XM Extreme Edition (8M cache, 4 Cores, 8 Threads, 2.70 GHz 32nm - $1,096), the i7-2860QM (8M cache, 4 Cores, 8 Threads, 2.50 GHz 32nm - $568), the i7-2760QM (6M cache, 4 Cores, 8 Threads, 2.40 GHz 32nm - $378) and the Celeron B840 (2M cache, 2 Cores, 2 Threads, 1.90 GHz 32nm - $86).

Meanwhile, Intel also reduced the price of several existing CPUs including Core i7-2600S ($294), Core i5-2500S ($205) and Core i5-2500T ($205).
