Amazon.com is expected to roll out a 7-inch Android tablet soon, aggressively priced against Apple's ipad2.
According to TechCrunch, Amazon is a 7-inch tablet geared toward playing music and movies off the Internet. TechCrunch said it had played with an Android-based testing prototype and that the device would retail for $250. Amazon's tablet will be Wi-Fi only and come with a color touchscreen but a limited 6 gigabytes of memory, the tech blog said.
Apple's iPad2 currently retails for $499, according to the company's website.
Earlier today, the Wall Street Journal also reported that Amazon.com Inc. is testing a major redesign of its website, making it easier to use and to navigate on a tablet computer.
Getting more mobile devices into the hands of Amazon customers is important, because it may enable more impulse buying and increased regular purchases. |
