LG and and Samsung Dominate Global TV Market

According to market research firm DisplaySearch, Samsung Electronics took up 22.6% and 18.7% of the market in Q2 in terms of total sales and sales volume, respectively. The figures of LG reached 14.4% and 13.9%.
Samsung's 3D TV market share was at 34.4%, followed by Sony's 17.5%, LG's 12.4% and Panasonic's 9.9%. That of LG Electronics exceeded 10% and ran to 12.1% on a sales volume basis, recording an all-time high. Its shares in North America and Europe were at 10.8% and 13.3%, respectively.
In the 3D PDP TV segment, Panasonic headed the list with the market share of 39.9%, 2% higher than that of Samsung. In the previous quarter, Samsung had ranked first by recording 42.1% .
The LED TV segment during Q2 reached 19.16 million units in size with the ratio surpassing 40% for the first time. It is expected to break the 50% mark soon. |
