 Foxconn to Replace Workers With 1 million Robots

Message Text: Xinhua reports that technology giant FoxConn, which manufactures products for Apple and other computer companies, plans to replace a portion of their workforce with robots, with a goal of having one million robots in place in their factories within three years.

According to the company's founder and chairman Terry Gou, the robots will be used to do simple and routine work such as spraying, welding and assembling which are now mainly conducted by workers.

The company currently has 10,000 robots and the number will be increased to 300,000 next year and 1 million in three years, according to Gou.

Foxconn is currently employs 1.2 million people.
