Intel Showcases First X79 Motherboards At Computex

Motherboards based on Intel's next generation nthusiast platform based on the X79 chipset are on display at the Computex 2011 held these days in Taipei.
The X79 chipset is expected to apear in motherboards in Q4 2011. According to models appearing at Computex by Foxconn (Foxconn Quantum Force series: BloodRage), ASUS (CIX79 Deluxe), ASROCK (X79 Extreme4), Gigabyte (GD X79A-UD3) and MSI (X79A-GD65), the X79 platform will accept 2011-pin LGA socket Sandy Bridge-E processors, a quad-channel DDR3 memory controller and 32+ lane PCI-Express 2.0 hub.
Of course, Intel will launch its previously announced
Z68 chipset
earlier than the X79.
