Nvidia seems to be ready strike back with the release of its GeForce GTX 580 in early December 2010.
The new card will be based on the company's GF110 GPU and will reportedly be 20% faster than the currently available GeForce GTX 480, according to Digitimes.com sources from graphics card makers in Taiwan.
Nvidia's new offering is expected to compete with rival's AMD Radeon HD 6000-series GPUs, which will be released by the end of this week with a price point of US$214-275 (HD 6850 and HD 6870 models).
Nvidia is also set to gradually unveil its GF112, GF114 and GF119 in 2011 with market positions similar to its GF104, GF106 and GF108, respectively. The company will also announce the 28nm Kepler GPUs by the end of 2011, while it is currently developing Maxwell as Kepler's successor.
